Why did Americans re-elect Bush in 2004? (After Iraq)?

Well considering that war was with a country that could of had nuclear weapons but it was almost obvious it didn't. Also during war time you don't want a new president, who knows how much more he could of spent. Just elected a new guy doesn't mean he will change much spending wise. Kerry had a great idea but he had no real way of doing that. Saying to stop the war is just able and agreeable but how exactly would he do that?
